Why Frontier

Why Operators Choose Frontier Energies for Oilfield Services

Choosing the right oilfield service companies is one of the most consequential decisions an operator makes. The wrong partner means cost overruns, safety incidents, and regulatory exposure. The right partner means wells delivered on time, on budget, and in full compliance.

We do not rely on generic industry playbooks. Over 40 years we have developed proprietary processes for every phase of well work. We integrate extensive historical well data into digital workflows that give our engineers real-time visibility into downhole conditions, equipment performance, and cost tracking. This data-driven approach reduces non-productive time and lets us identify risks before they become problems.

Our four offices in Calgary, Singapore, Perth and Brisbane position us in every major producing basin on the planet. Each office is staffed with professionals who understand the local regulatory environment, supply chain, and operating conditions. You get global capability delivered by people who know your basin.

We serve two distinct client profiles equally well. Independent operators and smaller companies that lack internal well management teams rely on us as a full-service partner. We handle everything from permitting through execution. Major operators and national oil companies bring us in when their own teams are stretched thin, and they need experienced professionals who can integrate with existing programs without a long ramp-up period.

With more than 3,500 wells plugged and abandoned since 2017, our safety and execution track record is documented and auditable. We maintain rigorous HSE management systems that meet or exceed the requirements of every jurisdiction we operate in. Our incident rates consistently fall below industry averages because we plan thoroughly and execute with discipline.

Full Lifecycle Well Management Services

Frontier Energies manages wells from the moment a prospect is identified through the final meter of cement in a decommissioned wellbore. Our full lifecycle approach means you work with one team that understands the complete history and condition of every well in your portfolio.

This continuity eliminates the knowledge gaps that occur when different contractors handle different phases. It also means our engineers can make better decisions because they have access to all the data, not just the data from a single work scope.

We provide technical planning, contractor selection, and on-site supervision for exploration and appraisal drilling programs. Our team builds fit-for-purpose well designs that balance geological uncertainty with cost discipline. We draw on historical data from analogous wells in our database to set realistic expectations for drilling performance and formation behavior.

Once a well is on production, we monitor performance and recommend intervention strategies that extend productive life and maximize recovery. Our well services include routine maintenance, artificial lift optimization, and workover planning. We track every intervention and feed results back into our digital workflow system so the next decision is always informed by the last.

Well Drilling Services

Drilling is where precision, planning, and experience converge. Frontier Energies operates as a well drilling contractor with the technical depth to handle conventional vertical wells, directional programs, extended reach wells, and deepwater applications.

Our drilling engineers design each well around the specific geological and logistical conditions of the target formation. We select equipment, fluids, and casing programs based on offset well data and real-time formation evaluation. Every drilling program includes a detailed risk register and contingency plan.

We plan and execute both conventional and directional drilling programs in onshore and offshore environments. Our engineers use advanced trajectory modeling software to optimize wellbore placement and reduce torque and drag. We coordinate with directional drilling service providers to ensure smooth execution from spud to total depth.

For operators who need a complete drilling management solution, we provide turnkey project management. This includes well design, AFE preparation, contractor procurement, daily operations supervision, and post-well analysis. You retain full decision authority while we handle the execution details.

Managed Pressure Drilling

Managed pressure drilling (MPD) is a critical tool for wells with narrow drilling margins, depleted zones, or uncertain pore pressure profiles. Frontier Energies brings deep experience in MPD planning and execution to help operators drill wells that would be difficult or impossible with conventional methods.

Our MPD specialists work with your subsurface team to determine whether MPD is the right approach for a given well. When it is, we design the MPD system, select equipment, and provide on-site supervision through the MPD interval. Our goal is always to maintain wellbore stability, minimize fluid losses, and keep the well safe while reaching target depth.

We apply managed pressure drilling techniques in formations where the margin between pore pressure and fracture gradient is narrow, in wells with known lost circulation zones, and in mature fields where reservoir pressure has declined. The benefits include fewer kicks and well control events, reduced mud costs, faster drilling through problem zones, and better formation evaluation because the wellbore stays in gauge.

Our managed pressure drilling programs use rotating control devices, automated choke manifolds, and real-time pressure monitoring systems. We work with leading MPD equipment suppliers and can mobilize systems for both onshore and offshore operations. Every MPD job is backed by a detailed procedures manual and a trained crew.

Oilfield Snubbing Services

Oilfield snubbing services allow operators to run and retrieve tubulars, tools, and equipment under live well pressure without killing the well. Frontier Energies provides snubbing services for well intervention, completion, and workover operations where maintaining well control under pressure is essential.

Snubbing is often the safest and most cost-effective method for working on live wells, particularly in situations where conventional kill operations would damage the reservoir or where the well cannot be killed due to formation conditions.

We recommend snubbing when the well has a low bottom-hole pressure that makes conventional kill difficult, when killing the well would cause formation damage that reduces future production, or when the operator needs to perform interventions quickly without the time and cost of a full kill and workover sequence. Our engineers evaluate each situation and recommend the safest, most efficient approach.

Our oilfield snubbing services include running and pulling tubing under pressure, setting and retrieving packers and plugs, milling and fishing operations under live well conditions, and well abandonment under pressure. We maintain strict adherence to well control procedures throughout every snubbing operation.

Well Servicing and Intervention

Well services form the backbone of our operational portfolio. Frontier Energies provides a full range of well servicing and intervention solutions designed to keep wells producing safely and efficiently throughout their operational life.

Every well eventually needs attention, whether that means replacing failed downhole equipment, stimulating a zone to restore production, or preparing the wellbore for a new completion. Our well services teams have the experience and equipment to handle these operations efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards.

We plan and execute workovers and recompletions for wells that need new production intervals, replacement of failed completions, or conversion from one lift method to another. Our engineers review well history, production data, and mechanical integrity test results before designing the workover program.

Frontier Energies has plugged and abandoned more than 3,500 wells since 2017. Our decommissioning team handles the full scope of work from regulatory filings through cement placement and surface reclamation. We apply lessons learned from thousands of P&A operations to optimize every job for safety, compliance, and cost.

We select and qualify all third-party contractors and equipment based on the specific requirements of the job. Our procurement process prioritizes safety, reliability, and value.

Step 04.

Execution and Monitoring

During operations, our on-site supervisors manage daily activities and report progress in real time through our digital platform. We track every cost, every safety observation, and every operational parameter.

Step 05.

Close-Out and Knowledge Capture

After the work is complete, we prepare a detailed close-out report that captures lessons learned, final costs, and recommendations for future work. This data feeds back into our system to improve the next job.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Oilfield Services

We work with two primary client types. Independent operators and smaller companies that do not have their own well management teams rely on us for full-service well lifecycle management. We also support major operators and national oil companies that need temporary resource augmentation during busy periods or for specialized projects. Our flexible engagement models adapt to your organizational structure and operational needs.

Since 2017, our teams have plugged and abandoned more than 3,500 wells across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments. Each abandonment is planned and executed to meet or exceed local regulatory requirements, and we apply lessons from every job to continuously improve our processes and reduce costs for future operations.

Managed pressure drilling is a technique that provides precise control over wellbore pressure during drilling operations. It is needed when the margin between pore pressure and fracture gradient is narrow, when lost circulation is expected, or when drilling through depleted zones. Our MPD specialists evaluate each well to determine whether MPD will improve safety and drilling performance.

Snubbing allows operators to run and retrieve pipe, tools, and equipment while the well remains under live pressure. This avoids the need to kill the well, which saves time and prevents potential formation damage. Common applications include tubing replacement, packer setting and retrieval, milling operations, and well abandonment under pressure.

We maintain rigorous HSE management systems that align with the regulatory requirements of every jurisdiction we operate in. Our proprietary digital workflows track safety observations, near-misses, and incidents in real time. Every project starts with a detailed risk assessment, and our on-site supervisors are empowered to stop work if conditions change. Our incident rates consistently fall below industry averages.

Yes. Many of our major operator clients bring us in specifically because we integrate smoothly with their existing teams, processes, and reporting systems. We adapt to your safety management system, your reporting requirements, and your decision-making structure. Our goal is to augment your capability, not replace your processes.
